GREAT class today!!

I had a record number (for me!), at Wareing's today, 18!!!!! 16 women & 2 very lucky gentlemen! Whoo-hoo :) Thanks for the awesome support!

ZUMBATHON!

First off, I want to thank my fabulous students, Gail, Denaze and Christinia from Wareing's Gym (http://www.wareingsgym.com/) for coming out and performing with me! They did such an awesome job!

The Latin Fest Zumbathon was GREAT. Zumba Instructors, and their students traveled from all over (even as far away as Hawaii!) to attend the event.

When I arrived at 8:15 a.m., I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were already at the 24th Street Stage.According to the radio station who was covering it, the count of attendees was at 800. WOW! Cannot wait for next year ;)

Also, I want to thank the organizer of the event, Elizabeth Vazquez who did an awesome job at organizing the entire event, and especially for bringing in Liana Veda!!

While I was at the beach today before work, I saw the Latin Fest poster on 3rd street. HAD to take a photo of it! I love the dancing girl =) 

I'm excited to see all the Zumba Instructors and their family & friends tomorrow morning!

SHOES!

For those of you who are still searching for the right shoe to wear for Zumba....





The most important thing about what type of shoes you wear, is that you don't have any TREADS on the bottom of your sneaker ~ the treads tend to catch on the floor as you move around, it's best to have a flat sole.

For the past year and 1/2 I have been wearing these Asics Women's Shihan sneakers. I absolutely adore them. They are snug to my feet, and have a flat sole. BUT, I also spend most of my class on my toes, so I don't need as much heel support.

The best thing that you can do, is go to a shoe store, and try on a bunch of different pairs of shoes. Do a few Zumba moves, and see how it feels! You can also ask other students in the class what they prefer.

We had 16 people at my class at Wareing's Gym today!! Such a great way to start off the day. Thank you to all the "newbies" who came!

I'm excited for the Zumbathon on Saturday, and even more pumped that a few of my students will be on stage with me. It's going to be a great week!

Zumba Birthday Party!!

This past Sunday I did a "Zumba Birthday Party" for the birthday girl and her friends. It was held at the Norfolk Yacht Club, in the ballroom. A GREAT location, especially since we could watch a bit of the regatta being held out front!


It was a ton of fun, the girls were very nice & did a great job at Zumba! I was impressed that they asked to do the squat song twice =)

Yesterday, I taught a Zumba class to the Norfolk Academy Varsity SoftballTeam! Their coach wanted to switch up their practice this week with something different, and they did a great job!

Zumba Birthday Parties?

I was asked last week if I could do a Zumba class for a birthday party. Pretty cool! So this Sunday, I'll be leading a Zumba Birthday Party for an 8th grader and her group of friends.

Great class at NA this morning!

Today was the "biggest" class I've had yet at Norfolk Academy, with 8 people (and one newbie)! So exciting! It's always a great way to start a morning doing Zumba with these ladies.

Zumba benefit for the CHKD

I have been asked to participate in a benefit for a GREAT cause, the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (http://www.chkd.org/).

On Saturday & Sunday, May 1 & 2 at "A Time to Dance Studio", in Virginia Beach, myself and 5 local Hampton Roads Zumba Instructors will be leading Zumba Routines and helping to raise money for the CHKD.

Join the Fun for 1 day ($15) or 2 days ($25), and help to restock toys, games, books, and art supplies in the Child Life areas of the Hospital.

Come support this great cause, and have a fun time doing so! There will be raffle items & door prizes from local businesses.

Zumba Family Night at Encore Dance Center

My friend, and local Virginia Beach Zumba Instructor, Liz Vazquez
put together a very fun & successful
ZUMBA FAMILY NIGHT.

All ages attended, and it was quite a party!

Celeste and I led the group in a few routines, and then Liz introduced Zumbatomic to the kids (which was pretty cute to watch).

It's definitely great having so many awesome Zumba Instructors in the area! Liz is busy organizing a Zumbathon at the Latin Festival on June 11th at the Oceanfront, stay tuned in the next few months for more details!
